I've never blogged, written on facebook or myspace, but I feel I need to pay tribute to my brother Joey. Even though he was my stepbrother, I always regarded and loved him as my brother. Joe recently passed away, and all I can do to not feel sad and empty is to "relive" all the great memories that we had. Joey was a one of a kind person who at his core was an extremely kind, loving, energetic, and spiritual person. He could make friends with anyone, and people loved to be around him. He could make even the most mundane events memorable. Some of those memories I will never forget about my precious time with Joey are fishing with him are Marcus on the snake, golfing with him and James and Grandpa(his natural athletic talents hid the fact that he played about twice a year, and he would always play a great round), surfing, snowboarding trips, hanging around the house making each other laugh (he had a contagious laugh and an unforgettable smile, both of which I will always remember), Hawaii, watching Joe breakdance at Slasher sales, celebrating his B-day every summer at Henry's Lake, seeing how excited he was to be "Uncle Joey" to Myles, and the thought that keeps coming to mind is the first time we met, and how we were instantly great friends and brothers. The last few years Joey was suffering from the illness of addiction, and it overtook much of his life, but I know that Joey is now at peace, and can go home to finally rest. I love you Joey, and will always remember you.
